Gravity

AN OUT OF THIS WORLD EXPERIENCE
THE FILM POSTER
Gravity is a 3D science fiction thriller a space drama . It stars Sandra Bullock and George Clooney as astronauts involved in a mid-orbit destruction of their space shuttle and their attempt to return to the earth .
For her role in this film Sandra Bullock received nominations in the Academy , BAFTA ,Golden Globes , Critics choice and numerous other awards .
Alfonso Cuaron won best director at almost every single award show as this is a film that screamed directorial brilliance .  It was the biggest winner at the Oscars winning in 7 categories . It swept the 5 technical awards and also won best original score and best director . For a majority of the film Sandra Bullock is the only character on screen as the entire team of astronauts is destroyed due to the reaction caused by a Russian missile strike on a now defunct satellite . The debris of the satellite are completing one revolution of the earth in 90 minutes . On the second revolution George Clooney (MATT KOWALSKI) is killed .
The film starts of beautifully with a 13 minute sweeping opening scene
featuring Stone repairing a satellite and Kowalski space walking on what will be his final space mission . They get the news of the satellite from Houston and are completely caught unawares by the debris attack.
THE DEBRIS SCENE WHERE THE SPACE SHUTTLE
IS DESTROYED AND MANY ASTRONAUTS KILLED
By looking at this picture it can be seen why this film triumphed in the best visual effects and film editing categories .
A STILL FROM THE OPENING SEQUENCE WITH
THE EARTH IN THE BACKGROUND
Best cinematography winner as it had numerous stunning scenes like the one above .Best Sound as the tempo of beats rises the moment the debris appear over the horizon and hurtle straight towards the earth . A scene in the Soyuz which is damaged due to the debris features Stone screaming out on despair and hitting the control . The camera moves backwards out through the window and features complete silence . The eerie silence of space.
This is one of the two films (after avatar) to be worthy of being called a 3D film . Watch it for its technical brilliance and inspirational performance by Sandra Bullock who gives up , but in the space capsule hears a baby crying via the radio . Her reaction after reaching the earth and walking upon firm hard land also is spectacular . 10/10 rating for this one . The best film of the year in the eyes of everyone except the academy awards(they love historical and feeling based films) .
